Vanessa Redgrave brings her film about refugees to Palma

After a decades-long career in acting, Europe’s refugee crisis has been the catalyst for Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave to make her directorial debut. Redgrave spoke in Palma yesterday about Sea Sorrow, which she said she and her producer son Carlo Nero have poured all their money into and will be screened in Ses Voltes tonight.

28 million tourists have come to Spain so far this year

Spain’s important tourism industry has returned better than expected figures so far in 2017 as holidaymakers appeared to have rediscovered the country’s attractions amid turmoil and safety concerns in other once-popular destinations, statistics compiled by an industry monitoring agency revealed yesterday.

Security forces have stepped up controls of the Muslim community

For the past couple of months the Guardia Civil and the National Police have increased their vigilance of the Muslim community on the island with special attention being paid to mosques and centres where young Muslims gather for meetings and talks.
