UK is probably one of the great democracies of the world

Further to Mr. Cowen's letter (Britain is no longer a democracy and I am ashamed, Tuesday) and Mr. Rule's reply (Britain is probably too democratic, Wednesday), the United Kingdom is probably one of the great democracies of the world. Mr. Cowen should have lived in Spain 30 years ago under Franco. Moreover, if he made such remarks in Hitler's Third Reich he would have been dealt with rather violently. Pacifism doesn't work. Neville Chamberlain returning with a useless peace offer from Germany. I lost many of my family in Hitler's gas chambers. Mr. Cowen should regard himself to be very lucky to be British.
