By Jason Moore CALVIA may be small...but it has become accustomed to big political battles and scandals. I thought that when Margarita Najera, the former socialist Mayor, left office it would be the end of an era and the start of a new period of political stability. How wrong I was. This latest political scandal is probably one of the biggest in Calvia's history. On Friday night, Mayor Carlos Delgado, was told to sack independent councillor, Joan Thomas from his council team but yesterday the Delgado camp, said they wanted Thomas to continue. Delgado is on a collision course with the man who told him to sack Thomas, Balearic leader Jaume Matas. It is a very difficult situation and shows clearly that Delgado wants to keep Thomas as part of his team whatever the outcome. A showdown between Matas and Delgado is on the horizon. The outcome is too close to call.
