Dear Sir,

I FIND it unbelievable that the various public and commercial bodies have sucked their teeth, huffed out loud and made public the content of a British foreign office website warning of rape in Calvia.

I do not know how many British tourists bound for Magalluf access the Foreign Office website but I would bet that tens of thousands more read the UK press that thrive on this sort of gutter editorial that has been blown out of proportion by the ridiculous knee-jerk reaction by those involved in the local tourism industry.

After the season is over, I will not be surprised if they distribute a press release with the heading, “NOT MANY DROWNED THIS YEAR”.
