By Jason Moore SPANISH Prime Minister Rodriguez Zapatero boldly announced yesterday that soon Spaniards would be richer than the Germans thanks to a booming economy. Ever since it joined the European Union Spain has gone from strength to strength. But before making some bold announcements, perhaps Zapatero should have a long hard think, because the rest of Europe may want Spain to start repaying some of the 80 billion euros that they have received from Brussels in the form of EU aid. I am sure that the Germans will be over-the-moon to see that the Spanish are now richer than them...the downside is they might want the return of some of their cash. For years now the Germans have been very European paying for plenty. Perhaps, the time has come for Spain to start paying back.

And finally, I think the opposition Partido Popular were right to boycott the march against terrorism in Spain on Saturday. Basque terror group, ETA, proved in their bomb attack on Madrid airport that they are still prepared to strike eventhough they have allegedly signed-up for the peace process. The Partido Popular has long maintaied that the ETA should disarm before the peace process can get underway. Unfortunately, they were proved right as the attack on the airport proved.
