THE Government talks of planting new trees to combat the effects of climate change.
At the same time in Puerto Pollensa a multitude of mature pine trees are slaughtered everyday in clearing land for construction.
The quiet and beautiful areas of Gotmar and Pinaret have been destroyed by unscrupulous developers using every available inch of ground for unattractive villas and profit.

Why do licenses continue to be so easily given for this devastation? Will we learn the lessons of Andratx (and I saw the other day now in Soller) where a combination of large scale corruption and greed has caused an environmental disaster?
