By Jason Moore CAN things get any worse for Real Mallorca football club? They are struggling in the league and close to the relegation zone, there is plenty of internal strife and now the fans are turning on club and chairman. It is all rather sad and really would anyone want to buy a club in this position. It is like buying a house which has severe structural problems and some awful neighbours. Although we´ve heard reports that British millionaire Paul Davidson is still interested in the club, selling Real Mallorca will not be easy. The fans were calling on chairman Vicente Grande to go on Sunday but he won´t go until he has sold his controlling stake. So what are the options? Well former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd may buy the club but its present problems do not make it an attractive proposition. Even if he can reach a deal over the sale of the club he will then have to pump in millions of euros to get Mallorca on track. I think the only solution is for the fans to buy the club. If Real Mallorca is so important to Majorca as many people try to make out then it will not be a difficult operation. I am sure that some leading local businesses would also help. Mallorca´s problems need to be solved in Majorca and probably only Majorcans know how to do it.
