FOR Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona's goalscoring genius who was given the honour of a cover page photograph and six-page article in Time magazine last week. But the article had an interesting angle to it: “The planet's best footballer is hailed wherever he goes -- except in his native Argentina. What must he do to win over his countrymen?” True, his appearances for his national side have lacked the brilliance of his Barcelona performances in which he sometimes seems like a ghost who cannot be seen by the players he glides past. Argentina's loss is Europe's gain.
