Dear Sir,

I cannot understand the local government! They want quality for the future of the island, yet they cut the very events which give this! There are many foreign residents and visitors for whom Concerts and Ballet are part of the quality of life and they express “how lucky we are “to have this here.” We have an excellent Symphony Orchestra and some very forward looking impresarios and sponsors, amongst them has been the local island government. So what has happened , many Ballet fans have purchased their season ticket for the unique Season which Sr Augustin Pinillos has been bringing us for at least the last 16 years. A season which presents the best ballet companies from all over the world, here in Palma, sometimes their only visit in Spain or even Europe! The latest news , which has been reported in the Spanish language papers, is that , the impresario will have to call off the rest of the season, after the August presentation, as he has not received his help ( which he had been promised and given other seasons) from the local government! Imagine all the organization , the tickets are paid for and this high light cut ! yet we can contract and pay Raphael Nadal to promote the island, (again). Meanwhile there are 5 limousines for the government, and no one from the last administration returned their mobile phones! Even the wonderful Orchestra, which played so fantastically at the Bellver Castle on Thursday evening ( a venue to rival any Italian emblematic city) is also under threat ! This is not a minority who attend, often it is difficult to purchase a ticket if one does not do so at the inception. I only hope that some one will step in and rescue this wonderful Ballet season , as this is the quality which is so badly needed.

I am sure that many ticket holders will be totally saddened by this, as the local press (in English) has not said anything to date.
Yours very sadly

Yvonne Cotton
