In the regrettable event of Scotland deciding to leave the United Kingdom it should not be allowed to retain the English pound, or the support of the Bank of England.

Control of it's own currency is a fundamental basis of sovereignty.
We have only to look at the current situation with the euro to see what happens when a currency is not controlled by a government.
A Scottish pound would float and rise, or fall, depending on their own efforts.
