On his first major overseas tour Prince Harry has been an unqualified success in Belize, the Bahamas and, particularly, Jamaica where his informality was perfectly tuned to the local lifestyle. Whether openly cheating to beat Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt in a 20 yards dash, dancing with some of the local talent or talking with the blind girl who had made the speech of welcome at a youth rally, Prince Harry seemed in his element.

Most impressive was the big hug between him and the Jamaican prime minister Portia Simpson-Miller who is about to make her country a Republic. Perhaps she will change her mind now? R.F.
