For Engelbert Humperdinck (aka Arnold George Dorsey) who has accepted the BBC's invitation to represent Britain in the Eurovision Song Contest. At the age of 75 and without a top hit since 1972 he may seem an odd choice but Britain's record in this event is so poor that a ballad singer of status with a following in many parts of the world may be a shrewd judgement of changing fashions in popular music.
