Dear Sir,
The rumour this time last year that the Winter Fuel Allowance was ending for us British ex-pats living in Spain proved unfounded. On 19 November my bank account was credited with £200. This year no such luck – zilch! It may have been our last payment. I’m contacting ESRA and Age Concern to see if we can group together to shame either Westminster or Brussels into removing this discrimination but my hopes are not high. Why should politicians guarantee our expat rights when most of us don’t even have a vote in Britain and barely one in Europe? On top of this many of the UK parties see us living in clover and not deserving their help!
