Snails. Well, do you or don’t you? Eat them, that is. In Mallorca, snails are something of a tradition associated with Saint Mark. The Sineu Fair, which was last weekend, tied in - as it always does - with the feast of Saint Mark. Snails featured in Sineu, but in the Sant Jordi (Saint George) district of Palma they are the main theme.

It is the annual Snails Fair, and so there will be plenty of oppo rtunity to sample snail cuisine. There’s a special gastronomy event on Saturday night, and at the fair on Sunday there will be dishes to try.

CELEBRACION DE LA TRADICIONAL CARRERA DE CARACOLES, DENTRO DE LOS ACTOS DE LA FIRA DEL CARAGOL.

A couple of other highlights of the fair are the Corredrac, the dragon-run on Sunday, and the snails race on Saturday. Yes, snails are put through their paces in what is a highly anticipated event.
