Starting September, Calvia will host daily markets at seven locations, with one market each day of the week.
This expansion includes three new markets in Magalluf, El Toro, and Palmanova, supplementing the four existing ones. The initiative aims to promote tourism throughout the year by providing services to both residents and visitors. The first new market opened in Magalluf on September 5, focusing on local and artisanal food products.
This effort is part of a strategy to reduce the area’s seasonality and revitalise it during the winter months. The Magalluf market will be set up in the car park between Calle Galeón and the sports centre on Avenida de las Palmeras, featuring around 40 stalls selling agricultural products and crafts, as well as plants and an underwear stall.
Following Magalluf, the Palmanova-Son Caliu market will begin operating every Sunday in the Amadip car park. This market will also have about 40 stalls and aims to attract visitors from Palma.
The El Toro market will be held on Wednesdays in the main square.
These markets, along with existing ones in Calvia Village (Mondays), Paguera (Tuesdays), Son Ferrer (Fridays), and Santa Ponsa (Saturdays), will operate year-round to boost the local economy and foster community cohesion.
