In June last year, the 103rd Spanish Youth Musicians competition was held at the Madrid Conservatory.

This wasn’t the 103rd anniversary as there are up to six competitions a year; these focus on different instruments and styles of music. In Madrid, the piano was the instrument. The winner was a young Mallorcan - Joan Miquel Font - who was one of six to make it to the final.

María Teresa Saiz from Santander is another highly regarded piano talent, whose debut as a soloist was performing Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ and whose awards include one at the San Sebastian International Piano Competition.

In Palma, they will be playing solo and then together. Their duo for four hands will be for works by Brahms and Mozart. The concert is a benefit for the Fundació Monti-Sion Soliària, which helps people in need.
