Veteran Austrian conductor Leopold Hager is now 89.
Since becoming assistant conductor at the Stadttheater Mainz, he has conducted at the world’s major concert halls such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and been guest conductor for some of the world’s leading orchestras, e.g. the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic.
He is best known for his interpretations of works by the Viennese Classics, two of whom - Beethoven and Haydn - are on the programme for what will be a great honour for the Balearic Symphony; Leopold Hager is the guest conductor for Beethoven’s Fourth and Haydn’s Symphony No. 102.
