The Alternatilla All Woman Jazz Band was formed for the Alternatilla Jazz Festival.
A six-piece, the one change to the original line-up has seen drummer Nailé Sosa replace Laia Fortià. Her addition means that six nationalities are represented. There used to be two musicians from Spain; double-bassist Blanca Barranco is now just the one.
Vocalist Marta Garrett is from Portugal. She has her own projects, such as the duo Zoe, while saxophonist Cecilie Grunt from Norway and pianist Aga Derlak from Poland have their own quartet and trio. The sixth member, another saxophonist, Kika Sprangers from the Netherlands, was the lead sax player with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra in her home country; she released her first album, ‘Leaves of Lily’, in 2017.
