The film orchestra goes DJ

The Royal Film Concert Orchestra are becoming a regular in Mallorca.

Coming under the umbrella of Spain’s Fundación Excelentia, a foundation for promoting different forms of classical music, they are one of three orchestras and the focus - as the name suggests - is cinema music.

In February, the orchestra performed two concerts on the same day. Respectively, these were tributes to Ennio Morricone and then to John Williams and Hans Zimmer. Later this year, these three composers will be combined for one concert, with the second being something of a diversion for the orchestra. This will see them come together with a DJ (DJ Symphonic) for a programme that will feature the music of, among others, Avicii, Coldplay, David Guetta and Queen.
