Corpus Christi was on Thursday (June 16) but it is typically celebrated on the first following Sunday. While there are celebrations across the island, two stand out - those of Palma and Pollensa.
In Palma at 6pm, there is a procession from the Cathedral to the town hall square and the Palau Reial. The Bishop of Mallorca, Sebastià Taltavull, has announced that the solemn mass at the Cathedral and the procession will be presided over by Bernardito Auza, the Apostolic Nuncio to Spain.
Pollensa's procession is somewhat different in that it features the Dance of Sant Joan Pelós (Hairy Saint John) and the Dance of the Eagles, two young women of the municipality wearing dresses adorned with jewels and with figures of eagles around their waists.
