Santina Brunch and More, across the street from Santa Catalina Market, has been a popular brunch spot in Palma for years, known for great juices, smoothies, smoothie bowls, as well as plenty of savoury brunch and lunch options. When Santina Harbour Club opened in Portals, they brought with them some of the menu staples, but also added sharing platters and more delicacies.
Everything at either of the two Santina sites is delicious and beautifully presented, and their cocktails are no exception. Santina is well known for their mimosas: classic, strawberry and passion fruit. During the summer months, I loved sipping one of those on Harbour Club’s spacious terrace.
On this cold winter evening I wanted to try something more quirky and I was attracted by the sound of The Crazy Monkey. This cocktail is made with vodka, Aperol, orange juice, peach puree, lime & citrus and served in a monkey head shaped ceramic cup. It was served over small cubes of ice and decorated with a dehydrated orange slice and a small spring of fresh mint leaves. It looked trendy, funky and was of a decent size. It tasted super fresh and fruity. A friend who was not going to drink alcohol tonight tried a sip and immediately proceeded to order one for herself! The Crazy Monkey is definitely amongst the Top 5 cocktails I have tried since I began writing this column last October.
Something else I really wanted to comment on is Santina’s very stylish interior - both in Palma and in Portals. In Palma the interior reminded me of vermouth bars in Barcelona. Here at the Harbour Club, lots of velvet (deep shades of blue and bright pink) is geniously mixed with plenty of wood and glass. It feels as if all the cushions, lamps and all other accessories are carefully selected to fit the overall theme of something like chic tropics. The whole feel is trendy, yet very relaxed. Couple this with the cool menu, plus excellent customer service - and you have a perfect year-round hang out for locals and visitors alike!
Till next time – cheers!
