Is Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy who had a week to forget. He continues to dither on whether Spain will need a bailout from the European Union at a time when there are growing calls for independence in Catalonia, one of the most powerful regions in the country. Rajoy appears to be undecided on whether to ask Brussels for financial help. Most people agree that Spain will have to seek assistance from the European Union sooner rather than later. Keeping Spain in its present shape will be no easy task with thousands of people marching in Catalonia in favour of independence. Rajoy faces major problems on all sides but he must show that he can take difficult decisions.
