For the Balearic Symphony Orchestra which began its 2012/13 concert season on Friday night at Palma's Teatre Principal after several months of anxiety over whether its existence would survive the austerity measures facing its three local government sponsors, who also deserve praise for their support. The Teatre Principal was full for the occasion and the audience was treated to an impressive interpretation of Dvorak's Cello Concerto by one of its own members, Emmanuel Bleuse, and to the orchestra's collective virtuosity in works by Prokofiev and Stravinsky.
