DEAR SIR,

REFERENCE the “Beckham Saga” with a reported offer by AC Milan being around 5'000.000 pounds short of the figure requested by LA Galaxy, when one considers the contract Beckham secured when he went to the States of 50 million dollars p.a., for him to personally stump up the difference of 5 million pounds, should be chicken feed for him to realise his (no doubt) dream of breaking the record of England caps and maybe play in the 2010 World Cup. What is holding him back? Certainly not lack of funds, could it be that he still thinks he has the “value” of yesteryear as a fading 33 years old player, and begrudges forking out money to achieve his goal, or is it a case of “cherchez la femme”?

Yours sincerely,

Graham Phillips
