TO the Balearic government for announcing plans which would involve civil servants working two and a half hours more a week. It is bold move and places the government on a collision course with the unions. But it will win support from those who work in the private sector who have seen a wave of redundancies and have suffered pay freezes as a result of the serious recession which the Balearics continues to experience. It will be interesting to see the union´s reaction to the move.
