By Jason Moore I was thinking about paying 80 euros to go and watch Real Mallorca play Barcelona on Sunday. I have heard so much about the Barcelona “Dream team” then I thought I should take a look. I am glad I didn´t. Once the Catalan giants had won the league the majority of their top players were given the afternoon off. It was Barcelona B who played on Sunday and thankfully Mallorca put them in their place with a 2-1 victory. There are literally thousands of Barcelona fans at the ground and lots of neutrals as well, who like me, wanted to see the likes of Messi and company strut their stuff. They were obviously disappointed. Even Sir Alex Ferguson, stayed away, his brother went instead, when they heard that Barcelona would be putting out an under strength team. I did see some of the game on television and Mallorca played with Arango´s freekick, something which Mallorca fans will saviour for many years. And so Barcelona won the league and another Spanish season draws to a close. Mallorca can take pride in their performance in the second leg of the league. If you think back to nine months ago, Mallorca´s future looked exceptionally grim. In the end they are set to finish mid-table and beat Barcelona in Palma. Not bad at all.
