On the Beach’s Big Winter Sun report has revealed more than half (57%) of winter sun seekers are now travelling all-inclusive, up 8% on 2019 levels. In addition, On the Beach said as the trend towards all-inclusive “becomes the norm”, there was a simultaneous shift in the number of holidaymakers booking higher star-rated hotels – with the OTA recording a 20% spike in bookings for five-star options compared with 2019.
Spain continues to dominate when it comes to On the Beach’s list of top winter sun destinations, with the Canaries (40%) the runaway leader followed by mainland Spain (17.2%) and the Balearics (8.5%).
More than a third of those booking the Canaries are heading to Tenerife, closely followed by Lanzarote, while Mallorca wins out in the Balearics.
Turkey is fourth in the list (6.9%), followed by Greece (also 6.9%), Portugal (4.9%), Egypt (3.8%), Cyprus (2.7%), Malta (2.5%) and Morocco (2.1%).

David HollandAs far as I can tell, there's only four of those low rent "cheap and cheerful" places: Magaluf, Playa de Palma, and Calas de Mallorca. One *could* accuse Cala bona, but it's hardly worth mentioning. Santa Ponsa might qualify, but it's actually German dominant by residence. Brits only go there in the summer for hols. But out of the qualifying 4 cheapness destinations, how many are British dominant? 3? Paguera? Do Brits actually go there? It's full of foreigners. All comes down to the style of all inclusive. Family resorts great, with fixed cost up front and burgers, ice cream and soft drinks for kids. Decent drinks and food for mam and dad. Sandals couple styles much copied in west Indies and USA. Quality food premium drinks . Private beaches on large estates. Then there’s the low quality food drinks in plastic glasses and getting pis..Ed.. 24hr 7 day knock off booze. Prevalent in Spains low rent resorts. That attracts low rent tourism. Look at current paguera compared to 20 years ago. But supply and gets appropriate demand.

The sooner the low quality all inclusives are banned the better! They might be good for the hotel chains (who invest the profits in other parts of the world) buy they are not good for the local economy. If people want this they can go to Benidorm, Fuengirola or Bulgaria!
