Ulla Jackson*Sigh* Aren't all things British superior? Or perhaps more accurate, all things "not British" inferior? Besides everybody knows that foreigners are crap drivers. So a British licence is the only way to go.
Zoltan TeglasI can't speak for the rest of Spain, but here, you can do the entire process in English. Or German. Or French. Or Polish... Or Arabic...
Morgan WilliamsCan you give at least ONE reason why the British driving licences are better than any other, as the Empire since long are gone - or is this meant to being ironic?
Morgan Williams' And Brits could always get a licence the same way as everyone else.' Don't be silly, that would mean learning some words of a foreign language beyond 'Un coffee con leche Pedro', which is most Brits level of Spanish here.
Other countries that don't simply exchange UK driving licences USA India Most of South America Japan Korea China Most of the world, really. Besides, Brits had a chance to exchange their licences in Spain, but chose not to. Now they're getting another 6 months. And Brits could always get a licence the same way as everyone else. But that's not really what this is about ...is it? Can anyone provide a list of countries that allow permanent residents to drive on British licences (no need to obtain licence in country of residence)? Wouldn't it be great if all countries issued British licences? No need to exchange anything that way. Besides, British licences are the best. Why switch to some far flung third world licence?
Don’t forget there are an increasing number of countries that **don’t even require** people to swap their licences at all, except at renewal. Portugal recently decided to do this. So did Greece. And the UK does that too for Spanish people who go to live in the UK.
