Dear Sir, any commercial operation in Britain and presumably in other countries is subject to an original planning condition which forbids the creation of any nuisance.

Noise is the worst form of pollution the recipient can do nothing to escape it except to kill the polluter as has happened about 10 times in England.

All summer we have screaming couple's bingos, discos, karaoke assaulting residents in Santa Ana (Minorca) at ear drum smashing levels from the hotel Sol del Este.

The council at Es Castell lack the moral fibre to take any action against those polluters - as shown by their recent request to Palma to close a bit at Son Villas and were told to do it themselves.

It is intolerable that local residents should be subjected to this pollution every summer, being unable to enjoy outdoor activities, hold a conversation outside or retire before 12.30 am.

Sol del Este hotel should confine this nuisance to a sound play room where their several dozen two-week holidaymakers can smash each others ear drums in isolation.
