I wouldn't say that Palma is a dirty city, infact I have always found it relatively clean. But what I do object to is how local authorities always blame Majorca's ills on tourists. It must be a relief that seven million holidaymakers do come to Majorca every year because otherwise I don't know who local politicians would blame.

So far holidaymakers have been blamed for the lack of water, the power crisis this summer, conjestion on local roads, over-development, making Palma one of the dirtiest places in Spain, causing disruption at Palma airport, and the list goes on. The only thing tourists haven't been blamed for this year is Real Mallorca's failure to reach the UEFA Cup. (And that was blamed on too many foreign players in the team!).

Instead of blaming tourists perhaps the local authorities should take a look at the problem and find solutions. They may find that the solution is much closer to home.
