It is totally shameless that the city council thinks that by moving prostitutes to unlit industrial sites and race-tracks that they will resolve a problem which is causing much concern. “Out of sight, out of mind,” appears to be the council's policy. The council social services department should work with these women, warn them of the risks of HIV while the police should ensure that they have some form of security. If the council is so worried then perhaps they should try and tackle the problem of curb-crawlers. A couple of video cameras positioned along the Avenidas which are able to photograph licence plates would result in a dramatic reduction in prostitution. And I am sure that it would also result in a dramatic reduction in crime.
