Dear Sir,

Now that rumours are being born in Washington that Syria may be in line for the American neoimperialistic treatment, Blair and Aznar must disengage from the coalition and swing their diplomatic weight behind the UN in an effort to mend bridges in the Middle East. There was no reason to justify the invasion of Iraq, and there is none to bully and perhaps invade Syria.
The Americans have minimal knowledge of world diplomacy and their track record of Vietnam, Sudan, Afghanistan and now Iraq is not very impressive.
The most obvious solution is for the American people to get rid, democratically, of their own “triumvirate of windbags”, Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld.
But that is for the Americans to decide. What is most important is that British and Spanish support for the Bush administration be withdrawn, now, in favour of support for the United Nations.

Yours faithfully, Leslie Watson
