Dear Sir, IT is absolutely amazing the way the Centro Canino animal refuge has been treated by the Palma Council and Mayoress Catalina Cirer, who have shown a total lack of interest for the well being of the animals, and the extreme hard work and effort put in by refuge workers, and those who have helped raise cash to fund a new home. Right at the beginning (when the green park zone area was at still at the planning stage) the council should have contacted the Centro, and offered to re–house them at a new location, and paid for it in compensation. This present sad situation, and stress for all involved, should never have come about.

I recall having seen recent photos of Mayoress Cirer at various animal functions – “What a hipocrite ! ”. Our knowledge of, and association with the Centro Canino goes back over 48 years (we moved from the UK in 1957) and were neighbours of Jane Reynolds and husband Toby in Paguera, so we have seen the years of hard work and dedication to care for the abondoned animals at the Centro.

It is disgusting the way they are being treated now. They have been promised help by the council for the past five years, and received none, and now, at the last minute, and with a complete and callous disregard, they are threatened with having all the animals killed. Thirteen thousand signatures have been given in support of the Centro, it is neccesary now for all those people to meet “en masse” at the mayoresses' office in Palma in protest of this treatment.
