Dear Sirs,

I THINK Mr. Keith Lockhart should have resisted the temptation to write his letter (March 22nd).
If the U.K. Minister of State, Malcolm Wicks, was prepared to discuss the matter with the European Commission, perhaps Mr. L. should accept that what to him is a joke, is no laughing matter to Pensioners.

The European Parliament believed it to be right that U.K. Pensioners should continue to receive Cold Weather allowances if they moved to another part of Europe and Malcolm Wicks agreed.

I suggest that Mr. L. “Quietly lives and works in his new environment” and allows non-working, non-earning Pensioners to live as happy, warm, and financially secure lives as it is possible for them so to do.
