Dear Sir,
WITH reference to Dr. Smith's letter (Daily Bulletin, 10th October) regarding me being taken in by a cynical electoral trick I would like to inform him that it is he who has been duped.
The 22 percent increase figure for Calvia was produced by the Council of Majorca a.k.a. the United Majorcan party that would dearly like to discredit the Partido Popular.
I'm sure it would interest the good (obviously leftwing) doctor (and the electorate of Calvia) that even the United Majorcan leader of Calvia council has pooh-poohed this figure of 22 percent as it was based on erroneous figures and described the report as, el baile de cifras which boils down to the old saying lies, damned lies and statistics!
