Dear Editor, I am afraid Jackie Evans dosn't really clarify anything at all. Her letter in the Bulletin 21st February 2007. Jackie writes from the Foreign Citizens Department at Calvia Town Hall. If she had the letter my wife and I received from Kate Mentink yesterday, 20th february 2007 there would have been no need for her to reply to my letter which was published in the Bulletin on February 8th, 2007.

The letter from Kate Mentink states “This letter is to remind you that all foreign citizens belonging to the European Union who are registered in the municipality of Calvia have until 16th April this year to make their application to vote, thereby exercising their right to take part in the forthcoming municipal elections on 27th may 2007.” It goes on to say, ”It should also be remembered that residents who were registered in the Electorial Census for the 2003 municipal elections will not have to make a new application in order to be able to participate in the May elections.” It seems that either Jackie or Kate has got it wrong, perhaps it is a good time to start shrinking the size of the Foreign residents Department at Calvia Town Hall.
