...for Laurent Gbagbo, the former President of Cote d'Ivoire, who has refused to accept the verdict of the recent election which showed a strong preference for his opponent Alassane Ouattara. The United Nations, election observers and nearby West African states have all endorsed by Ouatarra's victory but Ghagbo refuses to leave the capital Abidjan and is backed by the army. Racial politics are at the heart of this dilemma and unless it is solved soon a civil war is quite possible.
