By Jason Moore IMAGINE, if hundreds of tourists gathered on the beach front in Palmanova, Alcudia or the Playa de Palma at the weekend armed with their own alcohol, their own music and everything else. I am sure that the police in resorts would soon dissolve these illegal parties probably on the same night, because after all, they are dangerous, the revellers leave tons of rubbish behind and also they create a bad image for the city. So why doesn´t Palma city council act against the illegal parties which take place every weekend along the Paseo Maritimo? Surely, they are illegal? Surely, this is not the image that Palma wants to create? A small army of cleaners had to remove literally tonnes of rubbish which had been left by the revellers over the festive period. This is a disgrace. I feel so sorry for the people who live along the Paseo Maritimo and also those who are staying at some of the fine hotels in the area. This has got to stop now. There should be no excuses ... otherwise in the summer you just might find that tourists start doing the same. There can´t be one rule for local residents and one for visiting tourists. An illegal party, is an illegal party and the time has come to stamp them out. This should be the Mayor´s top priority this year.
