Dear Editor,
I WRITE to express concern about the withdrawal of the T.I.B bus route timetable cards which until last Autumn were readily available. With the cards, once could plan a journey with a circuitous route or a walk between two points. Planning such activities without a timetable is almost impossible. Officials say I can telephone for details without appreciating that I have inadequate knowledge of the language, nor the ability to remember all the necessary times and connections. I may not know what time I with to return or by what route at th time of my departure. Many tourists do not have a telephone, nor is the number well publicised. Generally, transport on the Island is first class, and the degree of integration a lesson to England, but by withdrawing the printed timetable cards, the benefits are severely blunted. The cost of the small cards must be modest measured against the immediate benefits, and very cheap when one adds considerations like the damage to the Island and the planet by hire cars. Are you able to give this omission a thumbs down and invite officialdom to review the situation?
