...for Sir Peter Hall, Britain's greatest theatre director, who has marked his 80th birthday with a sold-out new production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at London's National Theatre with his daughter, Rebecca, and Simon Callow leading the cast. Hall directed the landmark Waiting for Godot when he was 24, founded the Royal Shakespeare Company five years later and in 1976 took over from Laurence Olivier as director of the National Theatre and consolidated both its early creative and administrative achievements.
