SO England are struggling in the World Cup but you can't take the fact away that they are now in the last 16. England's next opponents are Ecuador, a far easier challenge than Germany and even playing badly England are on course for the quarter-finals. That is fact. I sincerely hope that sooner or later England will start playing for a full 90 minutes like they did in the first half against Sweden on Tuesday night. If that happens I can seeing them advancing in the tournament. Sven Goran Eriksson has taken plenty of criticism but at the end of the day he is probably playing England's best eleven. Apart from all the doom and gloom surrounding set pieces there was some good points for England on Tuesday night. Joe Cole was absolutely superb and he combined well with Ashley Cole. Steven Gerrard showed again that he can rescue the team and Wayne Rooney, although not still 100 percent fit, is almost back to his best. Then there is David Beckham, Frank Lampard and John Terry, all world class players. Even Hargreaves and Crouch have shown they are hungary for success eventhough their passion perhaps doesn't match their skill. So England fans leave the doom and gloom to one side and concentrate on the positive. It could all end on Sunday afternoon but if England play how they played in the first half against Sweden then they will be staying in Germany for some time yet.
