Dear Sirs, You may like to run an article on the apparent lack of flights to and from Mallorca from November 2005 to April 2006. We spend a great deal of time in our apartment in Mallorca as do many other people. On attempting to book flights from Birmingham between November and April we find that this year the only carrier appears to be BMI Baby. Coventry, Nottingham East Midlands, Doncaster/Sheffield, Leeds/Bradford all appear to have no flights and My Travel has one flight a week from Manchester. Having contacted the Airlines including Avro, British Airways, First Chioce, Monarch, Fly Be, My Travel and Thomson their response was Mallorca is a summertime Island and there is no requirement for flights during the so called winter period. My questions to them were how can people with holiday apartments, business requirements or relatives in Mallorca travel, equally how do residents of Mallorca travel to the UK for the same reasons? also as the majority of people with property in Mallorca I am told live north if Luton do they consider these decisions acceptable?. Their response was that the decisions had been made at senior level and regrettably travel to Mallorca would only be during the summer season e.g May to October. I am sure that you and your readers would be interested in these comments and would be interested if you and your readers can bring any pressure upon these companies.
