Although most local sentiment will naturally be for Spain it is worth sharing mutual pride that the finalists are both Europeans -- as were the teams in the enthralling Germany-Spain semi-final. Such representation questions the claim that European football is too obsessed with money and too little with quality. At the same time there has to be some disappointment that African football which provides so many players for European club teams failed to find a worthy competitor in this competition.
