Now that the Balearic government has been given their wake-up call and have been shown that the islands are heading for a relatively poor summer season, I would like to know what they are going to do to get the islands back on track. Hoteliers are having trouble at the moment filling their rooms in July. It wasn't too long ago when it was reported that there could be cases of hotel overbooking in May! The Balearic government needs to discover quickly why the islands are not as popular as they once were. I would say that cost is probably a key reason. If may be cheap to come on holiday to the Balearics but when you get here, you get a real shock. I have heard that some British part-time residents are moving home and yacht to Dubai simply because they are finding the island too expensive. These are difficult times and the last thing the Balearics needs is its principal industry misfiring. A poor summer will lead to a very cold winter so the government needs to move fast.
