What a mess!

By Jason Moore WHAT a right mess the Balearic government have made of the issue of the controversial sex fair which is taking place in Palma. Allowing a fair of this type to take place in a government-owned building is an absolute disgrace. I am not saying that the fair shouldn't be taking place in Palma but it is not the right venue for an event of this type. The local government were obviously caught with their trousers down because initially they had given the fair the green light, then they staged a dramatic U-Turn, and then after holding talks with the organisers realised that as they had entered into a contract with the fair and its venue they had little option but give it the green light. The latest development is that the Balearic Deputy leader, Rosa Estaras, is being despatched to the fair to establish whether it is pornographic or not! And what is more the organisers of the event want to make it a yearly event and they are already seeking a four year contract. I don't really think that the local government wants its good name associated with an event of this type and I don't really think it will do much for Majorca. I am sure that there are hundreds of other venues on the island which would have been more than happy to stage the event. Meanwhile, I would like to wish Rosa Estaras the best of luck on her mission!
