...for the St Alban's Crown Court Judge who has fined three major oil firms -- BP, Shell and Total -- a paltry 5.35 million pounds for their part in the Buncefield oil depot explosion in December 2005. The explosion registered 2.5 on the Richter scale, injured scores of people and caused extensive damage to hundreds of homes and businesses; some of its effects are still being felt today by local residents. The local MP, Mike Penning, rightly described the judgement as insulting.
