...FOR the near-30'000 spectators at Lord's cricket ground who gave the Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar a standing ovation as he walked from the Pavilion to the batting crease to face the English bowlers in the First Test Match. A majority probably hoped Tendulkar would score his 100th Test Match century at the home of cricket (without, of course, affecting a win for England) but it was not to be in either of the Indian innings. It will come soon, though. Tendulkar ranks with Don Bradman and Len Hutton among the greats of cricket.
