By Jason Moore PAUL Davidson, the British businessman who appeared on track to buy Real Mallorca Football club has been ridiculed by the local media this week, probably quite rightly but on the other hand quite wrongly. Davidson, obviously wanted to buy the club because he wouldn´t have invested so much time and money in the project. And secondly and more importantly could someone answer this question; why isn´t a single Majorcan businessperson prepared to buy his or her local football club? After all it is called Real Mallorca and is probably one of the most Majorcan things on the island. While I agree that Davidson has given the club the real royal running around, he was the only person who appeared ready to go all the way and buy the club. Now, Davidson appears to have withdrawn another Englishman has appeared on the scene and is prepared to buy Real Mallorca. Freddy Shepherd will not make the same mistakes as Paul Davidson; he has a long background in football. So once everybody has finished having a good laugh at Davidson´s expense perhaps some of my colleagues in the Spanish media should start asking themselves why is it only the English who are interested in buying Real Mallorca?
