Dear Editor, ON Wednesday 7th November the Mobile Blood Transfusion Unit was in the Square at Portals Nous.
Having given blood in the U.K. over many years I was willing to do the same here, especially as my blood group needs no cross matching and can be given to anyone. Rules being rules, one of the restrictions on the registration form is any person who resided in the U.K. between 1980-1996 for any period of time cannot be a donor People tell me the reason being CJD (Mad Cows Disease).

Something in their advertising could state this. I am very disappointed and I think people should be aware of the ruling if they want to give blood in the future. Regards, Margaret Crawley. Portals Nous
