For Vince Cable who seems to be losing the appeal he enjoyed when he was simply economic spokesman for the Liberal Democrats. Now as a Lib-Con coalition minister he is tying himself into knots over how to vote in next week's Parliamentary debate on tuition fees -- a subject for which he is ministerially responsible. At one point he appeared to be saying that he might have to vote against, or abstain from, his own department's policy. Mr Cable should try to regain the common sense he invariably showed in opposition.
